James Blackwood, London, [1861]. Third Thousand. Hardcover. Very Good- Condition. Book From a review in the advertisement for the book at the end of the text: "This is, we believe, the first time an attempt has been regularly and systematically made to bring out the actual scripture passages to which Shakespeare has alluded, and, therefore, Mr. Eaton has to be congratulated for the manner in which he has treated such a subject." vii, [9]-226, 6 pp (three leaves) of publisher's advertisements. WorldCat shows only a handful of libraries with early (1858-1861) printings. Text block is tight, though the paper of the hinges has cracked, exposing some of the webbing. The front hinge is weaker than the rear. No markings in the text, though the pages have toned from age. Bound in mauve…

Item Type: Book. Text block is tight, bright and unmarked, with the exception of a neat line written in ink on the verso of the free front endpaper noting the Caldecott Medal award.
