Mother Goose (Little Golden Book #4, 4th Printing)

Simon & Schuster, New York, 1943. 4th printing. Hardcover. Very Good+ Condition/Fair. Book The 4th printing in January 1943, of the fourth book of the Little Golden Book series in its original blue spine. It is in its original dust jacket, which has done a good job of protecting the book itself, though the jacket is worse for the wear. The back cover is Style #2.1 – "The Little Golden Library" title with a numbered list to #16. Size: 7.5"-8" - Small Octavo (Sm. 8vo). 42 pages. Item Type: Book. Text block is tight and unmarked, though a little toned from age. Solid blue spine over paper-covered heavy cardboard covers. Corners show a minimal amount of wear. There is a small (1/4") closed tear at the foot of the front hinge. There is a small scratch on the back cover touching the "N" of "GOLDEN" at the top of the listing. No foxing in this copy. The dust jacket is heavily worn with tears and some loss. The top of the front panel has taped to stabilze it. There is a 2" closed tear at the bottom right of the front panel. There is heavy loss to the spine and a chip at the foot that extends to the bottom edge of the rear panel. There are two tears on the back panel that have been repaired with adhesive tape that is now browned: 2" at the top middle and 5 1/2" from the bottom middle and up the outside of the numbers of the books in the listing. Both folds are heavily worn, as well, with some loss. The jacket is now protected in a clear sleeve. A child's name and address has been written on the inside front cover in an adult hand.
