Dark brown cloth with gilt-on-black title panel to sp. plus gilt author and pub. imprint. xxxi +(2, maps) +_433 + 96 pp. photos, many with more than one image, 208 text figs; have thoroughly erased extensive light penciling which seems to disappear after p.43, cannot entirely guarantee no traces remain or that there are none in subsequent text, even so they are very easily dealt with, other than that this is internally fault free, being clean, tight and unworn. Top edge of text-block brown. Unclipped jacket in protective sleeve as acquired appears to be clean and unworn bar very slight hints of rubbing to extremities. An excellent copy of this very learned and lavishly illustrated work, now apparently scarce. Somewhat broader in coverage of Celtic history than title suggests. 20 cm x 25 cm

Performance permission notice+application form on verso (publisher's new address imprint pasted over old one on both sides), (2, title & Characters)+48, issued in a 'King-Moylan Plays' series with 5 other titles listed on back cover. Undated but another play, 'A Damsel from Dublin' is described as a sequel to this and is dated 1950 on OCL WorldCat site. . Internally very good but covers somewhat soiled and diagonal crease across top front, old rusting staples removed and replaced. Apparently scarce. The Authors Guild of Ireland was founded in April 1948, being dissolved in November 1990. (publisher's new address imprint pasted over old one on both sides)

Good+/No Jacket. 15 Cm x 23 Cm. xxi+364, seems to be almost completely unopened; ex-New College Oxford with their heraldic plate front pastedown, front endpaper heraldic plate which I recognize from another book as that of Hastings Rashdall, the philosopher and eccelsiastical historian, though in this case his name has been obliterated by white strip of correction fluid, also a bar code to this leaf and lib. stamp top blank fly, a little shaken and front hinge slightly weak, though intact; covers minimally worn, bottom corners bumped, front clean but spine and back have a few ink splashes.

Internally excellent, inscr.fr.pastedown: 'Nellie Marsh, Zion Sunday School, Folkestone, January 1902', otherwise clean, tight & unmarked bar some browning to endpapers facing pastedowns the effect of which is reduced as the floral design is also brown; covers must be considered excellent being bright & unworn with no damage to the oval silver-printed photo of Pandita Ramabai centre fr. Undated but from the inscrip.date it is certainly the 1900 1st edition, subsequent editions were dated and, it seems, mostly in blue cloth. In addition to the religious angle this is also relevant to Indian history and women's history (including 'suttee'). Scarce, especially in such good condition, and a very attractive book.

Budapest. Spiral bound card. VG+. 15.5 Cms x 21 Cms. 12 papers in English reprinted from various sources, all but 2 authored by Csaba Pleh (co-authored in one case). These cover a variety of topics from Hungarian Psychology, psychophysics and Ernst Mach to Halbwachs, Valeria Diences and cognitive psychology. Mostly from mid-1990s, occasionally earlier. The only flaw is that green name stamp of Roger Smith to verso front cover has slightly leaked through to recto. I think this was probably produced on the occasion of a Cheiron Europe conference in Budapest.

University of London bindings were of generally high quality, and markings here are not too intrusive. This work appears to be quite scarce and is an interesting historical document with papers in French and German as well as English. One also wonders whatever became ot the Moral Instruction League.
