Covers Berlin's extraordinarily wide-ranging life and interests centred on Oxford university from the 1930s until his death, born in Latvia his parents had fled to Britain in 1911. Blurb says he was first Jew to be elected to All Souls College.

(no end-papers issued), mine alas!, otherwise a small brown spot centre fore-edge of text-block. Addresses initially give at 1924 Summer School at Suresnes. Main speakers were Ingold (con), Wendy James (pro), Roland Littlewood (pro) and Paul Richards (con); 40 pp., p.28 to end being the open debate ((motion carried 41 to 26 with 7 abstentions. A pristine copy of this leaflet, the main speakers' staements provide a very useful overview of the 'constructionism' issue at time of publication, Ingold's opposition basically being that the construction metaphor is too crude and more sophisticated mutually constructing view is preferable - cultural constructionism is not radical enough. Bevelled edge boards slightly corner rubbed, black cloth spine ends also a little rubbed (esp.bottom), but boards very darkened, this does appear to respond, at least to some extent, to vigorous eraser rubbing but I leave this joy to purchaser.
