There is also a blue printed book mark with Printer's Errors" loosely laid in the book. This Indiana regiment saw action at Antietam Fredericksburg chancellorsville Gettysburg the Wilderness etc. Many footnotes lead one to realize that Baxter used many original letters and other sources in preparing this history. There is a previous owner's circular embossed blind stamp on front and rear end papers as well as on the bottom of the title page. The previous owner corrected three printer's errors (misspelled words) in text in ink as well as another word correction: "Byron R." for original John R. Lewis Historical Library. Chicago: Swedish Methodist Episcopal Book Concern. Good. 1906. Hardcover. Runa is the pseudonym of Elisabeth Beskow. She was a Swedish author who wrote about 50 books. This title was published in Chicago about 2 years after the first Swedish edition in 1904. The Chicago publisher was clearly attempting to provide contemporary popular fiction to Swedish immigrants in America. Translation of title: The Old Priest Hornsjo An uncommon title from this Chicago publisher. Blue cloth covers with gilt lettering on cover. A nice clean, tight and unmarked book. Garden City, MI: Garden City Historical Commission. Very Good+. 1976. First Edition. Softcover. Garden City is located in Wayne Couny, Michigan in the southeast part of the state. The author chronicles the history and development of his town year-by-year, from its incorporation in 1927 to 1976. There is also information on the history of churches, hospitals, public departments, etc. This was undoubtedly published in conjunction as part of the national bicentennial celebration in 1976. Jack Linn was an evagelist who "preached the gospel of Jesus Christ in Theaters, in Tents, in Schoolhouses, in Tabernacles, in Missions, in Camp Meetings..." Previous owner's message ("Birthday Greetings 1939") on the front end paper, else a clean, tight, unmarked book with just a light smudge to the original green cloth publisher's binding that has gilt spine and cover lettering. Alexander Gardner (1821 - 1882) was a photographer who captured images of the Civil War First published in 1866, this edition is based on the rare original that contained 100 mounted photographs. Printed on glossy paper. Rectangular size quarto book. Full page b&w photo with text opposite. Spine slanted and portion of top edge of about last third of pages are crimped about 1/2" --it does not affect any images or text however. No owner names or other markings on interior or exterior. Garfield Township: Garfield Township Board of Trustees. Near Fine with no dust jacket. 1994. First Edition. Hardcover. 0961890347 . Written by a well-known Traverse City author, this history of Garfield Township in Grand Traverse County, Michigan recounts the early pioneers, schools, businesses, transportaion, etc. The text is illustrated with many interesting historical photos. Bound in the original publisher's glossy pictorial covers, they are in very nice condition. With the exception of a previous owner's name in pencil as well as his blindstamp on the lower corner of the front free end paper, the book is clean, tight and unmarked. All the plans appear to be for single story ranch style-houses with full construction plans available for order through the company. There is a slight crimp and very short tear to about half the pages at the edge. NOTE: There is a slight musty odor, probably from improper storage. There are no internal or external markings. This early New Hampshire gazetteer contains town and city names, history, names of first settlers & their hardships, county histories and names, etc. Contains 9 plates & a HAND-COLORED FOLDING MAP which is separated at some folds and torn at bottom through careless refolding. Top of spine pulled with two minor tears. This is a desireable early New Hampshire gazetteer. Original leather covers with original red leather spine label, the joints are tender, scattered light foxing and tanning to text blocks, previous owner name (Smith Swaines) tipped in on a card on front end paper & dated March 4th, 1827, one signature pulled. Contains a folding frontis map, one full page illustration and a number of tables. Slight split to top edge of joint in black leather spine, leading margin of the map is wrinkled. Bound in the original black leather spine with gilt lettering and black cloth covers; the rear cover has old staining. Ref: Sabin 31072 ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 216 pages .

Battle Creek: International Traktaatgenoot. Good. 1881. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Uriah Smith (1832-1903) was a Seventh Day Adventist author, minister and theologian who as the editor of the Battle Creek Review and Herald. This book was translated into Dutch for this edition, undboubtedly for the benefit of the many Dutch immigrants in West Michigan. This appears to be the first Dutch language edition published in Battle Creek in 1881, not the later 1889 Chicago or the 1907 California printing. An English language edition was also published in 1881, and it may have been preceeded by an 1865 edition. Original brown decorated cloth binding. Some rubbing to cover, however the contents are clean, tight and bright. Contains a previous owner name in both pencil & ink. Caesar Lucchesai left Italy in 1899 for the copper mines of Michigan's Upper Peninsula and his future wife left Tuscany in 1913 at age 13 for America to help her brother andd his wife in Houghton, Michigan and arrived to see snow on the ground--the first time she had ever experienced snow. This is their story. Contains two pages of references in the rear.
