Battle Creek: International Traktaatgenoot. Good. 1881. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Uriah Smith (1832-1903) was a Seventh Day Adventist author, minister and theologian who as the editor of the Battle Creek Review and Herald. This book was translated into Dutch for this edition, undboubtedly for the benefit of the many Dutch immigrants in West Michigan. This appears to be the first Dutch language edition published in Battle Creek in 1881, not the later 1889 Chicago or the 1907 California printing. An English language edition was also published in 1881, and it may have been preceeded by an 1865 edition. Original brown decorated cloth binding. Some rubbing to cover, however the contents are clean, tight and bright. Contains a previous owner name in both pencil & ink. Title translation: Thoughts, Critical and Practical, on the Revelation: Being an Explanation, Verse by Verse, of This Important Portion of Scripture ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 379+ pages .
