Rome: Enrico Verdes, 1923. Original Illustrated Wraps. Good. New Guide to Rome and its Environs, 1923, 2nd edition, XXXI, 287pp, original wraps, with six maps and plans and 37 views by A. D. Tani. Back cover has a tear along the bottom of the spine and some damage on the bottom edge. There are a few little spots on the cover. The pages are in good shape. There is a very nice (and large) folding map of Rome at the rear of the book. The book measures about 7" by 5".

Boston Houghton Mifflin, 1926, 1st edition, ix, 460pp, with 2 specially drawn maps and 7 plans, cloth. 16mo, flexible covers in red cloth. 460 pages plus 40 pages of ads plus ads on endpapers. A well preserved copy in DUSTJACKET. The jacket of brown paper with imprinted title, etc., is a little edge worn; the cover has a crease in the cloth for its entire length; inside clean and soundly bound, maps appear to have never seen the light of day, This is probably a later printing (1927) since the first issue was in 1926. There was a revised edition issued in 1929. This touches on every aspect of the island at its beginning as a tourist destination. This is the most uncommon title in this extremely well written series which also includes guides to Mexico and the Japanese Empire.

Cover clean and bright; contents clean; tight. Terry's Guides are among the most literate and contain wonderful maps and detail as well as more than 60 pages of adverts.

Theakston's Scarborough Guide comprising a brief sketch of the antiquities, natural productions and romantic scenery of the town and neighbourhood, c1850, Third Edition, 176pp, adverts, original red blind stamped cloth titled in gilt with 2 fold-out maps and illustrated with 38 woodcuts. Maps dated 1845. Cover soiled; binding loose where book apparently was laid flat; spine repaired but complete. Overall the book is VG-.
