Exploring the life of John Addington Symonds, an English poet, literary critic and cultural historian, through his papers and correspondence. Symonds supported male love, referring to it as l'amour de l'impossible (love of the impossible). Written by Horatio Forbes Brown, a Scottish historian who specialized in the history of Venice and Italy. He also wrote for the Cambridge Modern History, was a poet and alpinist.
