A fascinating and detailed guide to tropical planting and gardening, including chapters on climate, soils, garden plans, flowers, fruits, foliage, trees, caring for plants, practical uses for tropical plants, and a special reference to Ceylon. Written by H.F. Macmillan, former superintendent of the Royal Botanic Gardens and former advisor to the Anglo-Persion Oil Company.The fourth edition of this work. Replete with numerous illustrations, including three plates in colour, one folding plate, and many in-text illustrations.Collated and complete. Containing a pencil inscription from a previous owner to the front free-endpaper, dated 1936, and a former bookseller's sticker to the front pastedown. In the publisher's original green cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, and a few marks to the boards. A small split to the cloth at the head of the front joint. Previous bookseller's sticker to the front pastedown, and previous owner's pencil inscription to the front free-endpaper. Internally, hinges are slightly tender, remaining binding is generally firm. Pages contain a few spots but are generally bright and clean. Very Good
