Book has been rebound by library, with expected inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Pages are moderately tanned and thumbed at the edges, with creased corners and foxing. Corners are dogeared in places.Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn with slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are a mildly crushed, with small splits and chips. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

This is the first printing of this excellent third and final instalment of what has become affectionately known as 'THE GORSE TRILOGY' by Patrick Hamilton's legion of avid and loyal fans. Previous owners name and date to front pastedown remains discreet, otherwise all pages are present and correct and in excellent condition. The pages are a little tanned with age as is usual with this book due to the quality of the paper used in production and the books age, however there is virtually no foxing. Book sits solid and square with all corners sharp. Light, minor marking to the boards, otherwise a very nice copy which remains in Very Good condition. The original jacket is not price clipped, fade to the spine and loss to the top inch, chip and closed tear to front corner. A tight copy with some light toning to the pages, else unmarked. .

London: Constable, (1953). First edition, first printing. This is a very good copy. The wrapper, though bright and indeed presentable, has atypical markings as common with this title. There is slight loss to the top and tail of the spine, with other slight marks present. It has not been price clipped (12s. 6d. net) and there are no signs of repair. The boards are sharp at the corners, though very lightly bumped at the spine tips. The titling is bright at the spine. The text blocks remain clean and free from foxing, the top stain is also clean. This copy is free from inscriptions and is highly presentable in a notoriously fragile dust wrapper.
The scarce third and final title in the Gorse trilogy.
