Reynolds was an art critic and historian who became President of the Royal Academy. Malone was well-known as a Shakespearean scholar. Volume 1 only. Rear cover and last two bl ank leaves detached, front cover loose but still attached. Bookseller's stamp and PON to front endpaper, the odd bit of bracketing and underlining, no ballpoint. Offsetting to the pages surrounding t h e frontispiece o/w clean internally. A Good+ copy. Uncommon.
