16 Prince's Street, Soho: John Churchill, 1833. Octavo, pp xxviii, 398, (ii), slightly age-toned, but otherwise extremely clean and sound internally, a contemporary signature on the front blank [C. Weathers ?], with the half-title, original cloth-backed boards, a little age-toned and rubbed, recently re-cased with new endpapers, the original spine laid down, with the remains of the original paper label very darkened. RARE. Although dated 1835, this is obviously a slightly later issue, as there are two publisher's catalogues bound in at front and rear dayed 1838 and 1839 respectively. This book seems considerably scarcer than the translation of Rayer's other work of 1835. [Pierre François Olive Rayer (1793 - 1867) was a French physician who was a native of Saint Sylvain. He made important contributions in the fields of pathological anatomy, physiology, dermatology, comparative pathology and parasitology. ]. First British edition. Cloth-backed boards. Very Good.

Description:
Tan leather binding with red title plate, gilt banding and lettering on the spine. The Man of Feeling is a sentimental novel published in 1771, written by Scottish author Henry Mackenzie. The novel presents a series of moral vignettes which the naïve protagonist Harley either observes, is told about, or participates in. This novel is often seen to contain elements of the Romantic novel, which became prolific in the years following its publishing. The Man of Feeling, Mackenzie's first and most famous novel, was begun in London in 1767. It was published in April 1771, sold out by the beginning of June, and reached its sixth edition by 1791. Mackenzie wrote The Man of Feeling in the latter half of the eighteenth century, by the end of which the concept of sentimentalism had steadily become merely laughable and entertaining. An 'Index to Tears', which was first included in the 1886 edition of The Man of Feeling edited by Professor Henry Morley, indicates how the "repertory of sentimental effects...has… Read More

VG/VG condition unclipped dust jacket, printed price $12.95 Mr. Rogers appears on the back dj panel wearing a pale blue sweater. "In this book, real life photos are used to help young people feel more comfortable with interacting with other children and making new friends. A Note From Fred Rogers: A child's first visit with a pediatrician usually comes soon after birth. It may be months or even years later, though, that a child first shows fear about going to see a doctor. The worry of an injection or some other unfamiliar medical procedure can trigger that fear. It can also appear because another family member may be feeling medical anxieties. And, of course, new body awareness and needs for privacy develop naturally in children's early years, so all these feelings can make it very hard for them to let doctors investigate the workings of…
