Synopsis

Tales of Mystery and Imagination , stories by American author Edgar Allan Poe have been compiled by Padraic Colum into a thrilling collection focused on Poe’s suspenseful stories. The first edition compiled by Padraic Colum was published in 1908 by Geoffrey Newnes Ltd. and includes an introduction by Colum explaining his decision to exclude Poe’s poems, comedies, and essays from the collection. A later 1919 edition, published by George G. Harrap & Co., includes 24 full-page black and white plates by famous illustrator Harry Clarke. An album by The Alan Parsons Project was named after the short story compilation and contains several songs based on the tales included.

THIS JUST IN! Free, Faster Domestic Shipping!! Before you order from one of the larger mass sellers, keep in mind that the USPS has partnered with what they call "USPS approved shipping & returns consolidators". Firms such as OSM Worldwide, Pitney Bowes, International Bridge, Kaleidoscope, VIP Parcel and now DHL e-commerce, are all now working with the Post Office. While this extra layer is supposed to shorten transit times, it actually delays your order! Order from a small seller with no shipping middleman! Regular Media Mail is still a quick, efficient & relatively safe way to move books within a 4-6 day window; depending on location-perhaps sooner(3 days). Last year I shipped a book from here in Illinois to a very small town in Alaska using Media Mail ; total transit time = 3.5 days!! I've ordered twice myself from stores using these so-called "partners"(there's really no choice) just in the last two weeks and my items have just set for two days before even starting to move. I believe they are aiming for a 5 day delivery time but my recent experiences have been well over that = 7-8 d. Live & learn. l 0 W b r 0 W

About Low Brow Books

****I'm not shy! Nor would I be offended if a shopper were to make an offer for a book!! Don't let past bad experiences dictate what you may do HERE! I run a very free & open F0RUM. Plus I realize that not everyone lives in Newport Beach, Dana Point, or Rancho del Rey; times are tight for many of us- this is why I'm forced to sell off my collection. FREEE DOMESTIC SHIPPING !! We will endeavor to keep and have this a mainstay here at LBB as long as the hemorrhaging is kept in check! Low Brow Books welcomes you to browse nearly 300 titles; most of which are occult or occult-related: e.g. psychic studies, witchcraft, occult history & occult fiction just to name a few. If a book takes your fancy, hit me with an email: agricola.ev@gmail.com. NO PRICE IS EVER SET IN STONE. If additional images are needed, just holler and I'll forward them on. For you Anglophiles out there, let it be known that in several instances I'm the only domestic seller offering a particular UK edition. Some years ago I made the decision to buy/invest(?) in UK titles (always in addition to their US counterparts) before the post became prohibitively expensive. This is especially true in an area that has not yet been exploited here on Low Brow- "pre-1980 horror anthologies" but hopefully will be soon; as I have dozens & dozens of very nice titles. Check back early and often for price reductions and new listings. For you "repeat visitors", many thanks for your continued patronage; for newcomers - Hey! let's get acquainted and talk books, authors, the state of second hand bookselling. From the prairie provinces.

98% of these listed items have been in my personal collection for years, housed in a non-smoking environment, temperature/humidity controlled and/or micro-environment. If you need more detailed images, don't hesitate! Shout out and I'll forward them on to ya!
