Elizabeth Oke Buckland Gordon (born c. 1825) was a writer and the biographer of her father, distinguished geologist, paleontologist, theologian and Dean of Westminster William Buckland.
This a careful and considered account of the saint as an historical figure as well as a history of the knights of St. George, the Order of the Garter, and St. George's powerful military and symbolic influence on Christianity. The widespread commemoration of him in liturgy, customs, traditions, art and civic life is dealt with in the latter half of the work.
