About This Item

London: Leonard Smithers, 1898. Octavo. In two volumes, written by eye-witnesses of the scenes, translated from the French interspersed with biographical notices of prominent characters and curious anecdotes illustrative of a period without its parallel in history. Vol. I. Inserted frontispiece, 258pp, Vol. II. inserted frontispiece, 247pp., bound in blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, top edge cut, all others uncut, dark blue coated endpapers, spine a bit darkened, some very minor spots of rubbing or wear to spine ends, joints and corners. This is the only work in which it completely describes the mass of crime which stands without a parallel in the annals of the world and relayed by eye-witness accounts. A very nice set.
