No Place: No Publisher, 1797. Two documents, part printed part manuscript, both approximately 235mm x 370mm in size. The first (listing the properties) is creased from old folds, chipped with small amounts of loss not affecting sense, reverse lightly soiled with Japanese tissue repairs to folds. The second (setting out the rights and obligations of the agreement) is lightly creased from folds, with a few chips to edges. Rental agreement between Lord Stourton and a Thomas Smith, for a significant number of properties for one year, from the second day of February 1797, for the sum of one hundred and forty five pounds. Smith was to "keep all the hedges, ditches, walls, fences, gates, stiles, bridges, mounds and water-courses ... in good and sufficient repair, at his own expence ... [and was not to] top, lop, fell, cut down, maim or in anywise injure any timber trees, or other trees whatsoever, growing or being on the said premises". Charles Philip Lord Stourton (1752-1816), the 17th Baron, succeeded his father in 1781, inheriting Roundhay Park in Leeds. First Edition. Unbound. Fair. Folio. Ephemera.
