London, Richard Bentley & Sons Ltd. 1882 “Steventon Edition”. Hardback, 8 x 5.5 inches. In halfbound navy blue leather fine binding by “Sangorski & Sutcliffe”, with gilt decoration and raised banding to spine with brown leather spine label. Blue marbled paper to boards with gilt line edging. Marbled endpapers and gilt top page edges. In very good condition. Corners a little bumped and rubbed. Some rubbing to edges and ends of spine. Small cracks at ends of front hinge. Partailly cracked between endpapers at front. Binders stamp to corner of front endpaper. Neat previous owners inscription to blank prelim “Leonard Overbury, 1930.” Some minor darkening to frontis, not tissue guarded. Some occasional handling marks and foxing spots to pages. Else a very good clean and tight copy. 364pp. With engraved frontis portrait, view of Steventon Parsonage, and facsimile page of handwriting. Decorative borders to pages, with decorative chapter headings. Memoir of Jane Austen by her nephew with Lady Susan and some fragments.
