Octavo, 211pp., front hinge cracking, Table of Contents reattached, minor internal spotting, floral endpapers, original cloth, gilt, edgworn; Inked names of Lucy (?) T. Ripy (?) [rrelated to James P. Ripey, 3d Sergeant from Anderson County], and P. H. Thomas ( who may be related to Preston Thomas, who was the first Lt. Col. of the regiment. . Quite Scarce.
Lawyer D. Howard Smith was the Colonel of the Fifth Kentucky Cavalry, and operated under Gen. John Hunt Morgan. This is one of the three major sources of Fifth Cavalry information, and it includes and incomplete muster roll of the enlisted men. [ Dornbusch II; 385]. That portion of it which relates to his war record has been prepared from notes of his own ... and from other well-authenticated sources, both Federal and Confederate, which bear the stamp of truth and lend it additional value. - Preface."

Joyce And Company has been in business as a professional rare bookseller and appraiser since 1975. Owner Thomas Joyce was the regular book appraiser on Home & Garden TV\'s \"The Appraisal Fair\\\" program, on international broadcasts. Thomas Joyce was the co-discoverer of George Washington's personal copy of William Leybourn's 1679 edition of THE COMPLEAT SURVEYOR, from which young Washington learned some of his surveying skills at age 16. The book had vanished for nearly a century until its re-discovery in 2017. It is now back at Mt. Vernon.
