Paris; nd: Societe Des Beau Arts. Limited Edition. Octavo. The Salon edition limited to 550 copies, The present copy is number 212. xix, 139pp., with a preface by Anatole France, illustrated by M. Paul Avril, who has interpreted the ideas of Gautier in a series of elegant and delightfully charming tinted etchings with tissue guards present. Bound in 3/4 green crushed morocco over marbled paper covered boards, raised bands with compartments lettered and decorated in a floral gilt with red onlays, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt, the spine had evenly turned to brown, only an occasional spot of foxing. A very handsome copy.
