London: Leo Cooper, 1989. Some creasing to edges of price-clipped dustwrapper, minor bumping to spine ends of green boards, otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. Letters sent by Ralph Verney, an officer in the Rifle Brigade, to his family from South Africa during the Boer War, Australia where he was ADC to the Governor of Queensland, and from France 1914-15, where he was wounded at Neuve Chapelle. The letters end in January 1916 with him being sent to India as Lord Chelmsford's military secretary. 207pp, 26 b&w illustrations. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
