Florence: Bonechi, 1968 Folio (36 cm), 72 pp, 32 ff of plates. Hardcover in dust jacket and printed plastic wrappers (plastic wrappers chipped at bottom, dj slightly rubbed at extremities). The library of the Dominican monastery of San Marco in Florence is widely regarded as the first public library in Europe. Commissioned by Cosimo de' Medici between 1437 and 1444, it houses a wealth of valuable manuscripts, including those once owned by the Medici family, Pico della Mirandola, and Poliziano. This book serves as an illustrated catalogue of the illuminated manuscripts within this esteemed collection.
