About This Item
NY: Alfred A. Knopf. 1959. 264, viiipp. LOC #59-9257. Ex-library, possibly from the Bethlehem Steel Company, as there is a stamp on the title page reading "BSCo. ARCHIVES". There is a small dent at the top of the rear board, and three of the four corners are just slightly bumped. There are a few minor soil spots here and there, but hardly noticeable. The spine is not faded and the spinal gilt is still bright. There is no dust jacket, but the d.j. flaps have been cut off and pasted inside the rear cover (the book description front flap and the "about the authors" rear flap). The glue has dried out over the past 64 years, so the flaps are simply laid in now atop the glue discoloration. Also laid in on page 5 is an erratum slip. The book is about archaeology directed at mostly early American sites like Jamestown, Thoreau's Walden Pond cabin, Thomas Jefferson's birthplace, the early ironworks at Saugus, MA, and others. (57731) . Very Good. First Edition. Hardcover.

Terms of Sale
Books, Etc.
Items are 12mo. or 8vo or 4to. in original binding and in at least good condition unless otherwise noted. The dust jacket condition will be noted separately in the item description. Items are subject to prior sale, though we update our online inventory to remove sold books in a timely manner. Most books are posted with at least a picture of the cover, with other pictures of notable features or defects. Additional pictures of any item are available upon request. We strive to accurately and comprehensively describe the condition of each item for sale and will gladly provide further details if asked.
Standard shipping in the U.S. will go by USPS Media Rate; faster shipping will go by USPS Priority Mail. The shipping costs are based on most books weighing 2 - 4 pounds (1 - 2 kg). International shipping will cost more, unfortunately. Large, heavy books may require additional postage, but we will try to avoid this if we can.
If feasible, dust jackets will be placed in protective sleeves before shipping. If you don't like the protective sleeve, they are easy to remove without harming the dust jacket. We ship books protected by bubble wrap in carefully-taped boxes. For Priority Mail, we will usually box the book, then place the box inside a Priority Mail flat-rate envelope; most Priority Mail boxes are either too large or too small for individual books.
The "shipping times" are usually accurate, but delays can happen, as we have no influence on the national or international delivery industry! A tracking number for your package is available upon request. USPS Priority Mail shipping includes insurance.
All orders may be returned for any reason within 30 days of receipt.
