About This Item

New York: Dodd, Mead & Co., 1950. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. The interior of the book is crisp and clean, showing no marks or wear. The black cloth covers are fresh, with just a bit of light wear. The dust jacket is price-clipped, but is also in very good condition, with minor wear (but no rips, chips or tears), and some soiling visible on the back panel. A very nice copy. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: "Clark Tinsley, who had just inherited the second biggest ranch in the valley, knew he was coming to the Sweetwater country in a time of trouble. It was ironic that in a country desperately in need of water, stockmen should have a river flowing past their door but running so deep in its gorge that it was of liitle use. A scheme sponsored by some of the big ranches to build a high dam and a series of canals was opposed by the smaller outfits who were afraid to surrender their natural water rights. The local banker and cattle king were amused to find this opposition headed by the lovely Rita Eaton, barely out of her teens ... Though oposed by the hired gunmen and the organized violence of the water company Tinsley enlists under Rita's leadership and fights through to victory and a conservation program to serve the needs of all".
