1st US edition. 4-1/2 x 7-1/2 inches. Two volumes, complete. vi,220pp; 204pp. Quarter worn cloth with boards. Some bumping to edges both volumes. Ex library copy with various markings, no paper loss, but stains. Poor condition.

1,000 copies printed (The Cost Book of Carey and Lea, 1825-1838

edited by David Kaser, p.125 Preface, pp. [v]-vi, dated ‘6th January, 1833', states: ‘This may be my last novel; for the latter part has been dictated from a bed of sickness, and the disease is not of a very equivocal kind'.
