Alfred A. Knopf, 1968. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/Fair. 458 pages. First edition, second printing. 8vo, blue cloth with usual Knopf gilt lettering, boards sunned at their extremities and with small spots of soil, blue tint to top edge faded and foxed, in unclipped DJ that's raggedy across the top (chips and tears) and has small chips at the heel. Small pencil marks in the margins of a smattering of pages, and one or two notes.
Synopsis
John Updike was born in Shillington, Pennsylvania, in 1932. He graduated from Harvard College in 1954 and spent a year in Oxford, England, at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art. From 1955 to 1957 he was a member of the staff of The New Yorker . His novels have won the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Rosenthal Foundation Award, and the William Dean Howells Medal. In 2007 he received the Gold Medal for Fiction from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. John Updike died in January 2009.

Shipping charge may be reduced on some books weighing less than 1 lb to U.S. addresses. International Priority shipping charges may be reduced on books that fit in a USPS small flat-rate box. International Standard (First-Class Package International) shipping charges may be reduced for a second or more books if the total package weight does not exceed 2 lb.
