About This Item

Petersburg: Printed by Edmund and Julian C. Ruffin, 1840. Pamphlet. iv, 132p., disbound, adhesive remnants to spine with dangling threads, all leaves secure. Self-wraps, 8.8x5.5 inches, exposed initial and terminal pages (original blanks) are quite dust-soiled; light but pervasive foxing throughout, with further dust, corner creasings and dog-ears. Author's name is neatly penciled on titlepage in period handwriting, find several similarly pencilled corrections to text, otherwise no ownership or other markings. A light dampstain affects the top margin of many leaves. Good copy. Pro-Slavery, advocated states rights. *Howes U24.
