First Edition/First Printing. Bound in blue cloth boards with titles present to the spine and front board with color pastedown present to the front board. Boards have shelf-wear present to the extremities (boards are scuffed and worn to the extremities especially at the corners and the spine ends). Previous owner's gift inscription present to the FFEP. Offsetting present to the endpapers. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. Includes chapters on the old-fashioned garden, the naturalistic garden, the wild garden, the rock garden, the water garden, trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, bulbs, roses, vines, and garden furniture. Neltje Blanchan De Graff Doubleday (October 23, 1865 – February 21, 1918) was a United States scientific historian and nature writer who published several books on wildflowers and birds under the pen name Neltje Blanchan. Her work is known for its synthesis of scientific interest with poetic phrasing. EB; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 368 pages .
