A comprehensive résumé of the Magnum member's work including chapters from The Dwarf [Circus pictures], Brooklyn Gang, Black Americans and Welsh Miners. SIGNED by Davidson to half title. Unclipped dust jacket, housed in a mylar protective sleeve. Some creasing, crimping to jacket around head of spine, some minor darkening around folds. Light shelfwear to base of covers, else fine.

An excellent resource on the subject.

Substantial new material added since the 2nd edition. There are three new chapters on project financing and commodities restructuring, bond restructurings and liability management."

Panelled black morocco, with floral blind stamped border. Five raised bands. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers, inside gilt dentelles. Matching gilt blocked decorations of acorns and oak leaves to spine compartments and covers. Facsimile of the 1633 University of Cambridge first edition. xvi, 192, [3], index. Some tanning to pages at margins - seems to be a recurring issue with some Stock editions - joints rubbed, slight crack to front inner hinge. No ownership marks or annotations. No limitation, but a scarce Elliot Stock facsimile edition with no other copies listed online as of May, '23.

Bar some slight bumps to tips of Vol V, all volumes in superb condition, with barely any signs of use, if at all. Wrangham was born into a wealthy English landowning family. His uncle, William Winkworth, and grandfather Stephen Winkworth, were both experts in Oriental arts, the latter among the co-founders of the Oriental Ceramic Society. Against this backdrop, he was to amass one of the great collections of Japanese material, especially strong in inro, lacquerware, and netsuke. Part IV is unusual in that it retains the dust jacket, which seems to have been issued only for this volume. Several pieces set record prices for the time, many of which still stand. Full bleed colour photographic images on paper over thick laminated card pages. Unpaginated. Signed by Homma to inner rear pastedown in pen. With the accompanying 20p. loose leaf pamphlet leaflet in the fluorescent green enclosed with text in Japanese and English, including two essays, by architect Momoyo Kajima, 'Ways of Looking at the Suburban Landscape,' and 'In the very fact of an intensity without having "meaning"', by sociologist Shinji Miyadai. Images from the endless sprawl of Tokyo's suburbs, capturing well manicured lawns, bright pastel shades and dreamy blue skies. Only occasionally does the imagery veer off into less certain, bleaker shades. Parr & Badger, The Photobook, A History, Vol 2. "This volume is an organic gathering, collected over the past 15 years, of the work of Ezra Petronio and Suzanne Koller, partners in the Paris branch of the international design firm, Work in Progress. It features Petronio and Koller's groundbreaking work on their international style magazine, Self-Service, as well as many additional projects with clients, artists and other creative minds." A scarce copy of a now hard to obtain text. Crammed with photos by and of Petronio and Koller shoots and product images. One or two very faint marks to boards, otherwise a tight, very well kept copy.

Taylor - possibly the English idealist philosopher, (1869-1945). A shadow, likely from a removed ex libris label, to front pastedown. Rubbed to spine ends and tips, joints slightly rubbed, minor spine lean, short crack to gutter of rear endpaper - not to joint. A well read copy, but the plates in fine condition, bright and fresh with unfoxed tissue guards. Binding firm, pages clean and unmarked, overall a sound copy. Translated from 'Études sur la Bière' (1876), in which Pasteur demonstrated that bad beer came about from microorganisms in the air, and not the previously held belief from some form of spontaneous generation. Complete in 20 volumes, with essays by Samuel Johnson, George Steevens, many of the plays with separate, lengthy, very detailed annotations, setting out bibliographical issues, printing history and the like. An important scholarly reference for the time, gathering together numerous essays and commentaries on the plays. Under Bell's direction, these sets would have been issued at a competitive price. London, Undated (circa 1970s). Fine. Framed and glazed bromide print, head and shoulders portrait of poet Ted Hughes (1930-1998), undated but probably mid 1970s, no location given. A scarce image of Hughes, I can find no other examples online and I believe it does not feature in any published work on Hughes. With Gerson's pencilled signature to lower right hand side of backing board, and the initials FBIPP (Fellow of the British Institute of Professional Photographers) and to left, London. The frame measures 39x32.5cm and the visible image is approx. 24x19.5cm. Gerson made his reputation as a portrait photographer of literary figures, and his images count among some of the most compelling of the genre.

Gilt rules to leather edges on covers, five raised bands to spine, with gilt titles and date to base. Matching pale blue marble card endpapers. The bindings almost certainly by Bayntun of Bath, having been in the same family home in Bath since their purchase, and match exactly the style of other Alice bindings by the firm from this period. With the facsimile signatures page to front. Unpaginated, but with hundreds of b&w photographic plates, and numerous colour plates. A roster of the leading fashion photographers of the period, from Paolo Roversi, to Bruce Weber, David Bailey, Steven Meisel, Guy Bourdin and many more. A couple of nicks to jacket at head and tail of spine, small bump to base of spine. Jacket has minor handling marks to rear panel. Very minor splashmarks to forward page edges, nothing serious. Still a bright copy, binding firm. Hard to obtain and a classic collection of fashion photography. Text in Italian.

A masterpiece of Victorian comic writing, gently poking fun at convention, with several renowned setpiece scenes. First edition, first state with "Quay Street" as address to title page but without the street number of 11.
