Nice condition set of "Twenty Years of Congress" - From Lincoln to Garfield with a Review of the Events Which Led to the Political Revolution of 1860 by James G. Blaine. 1884 1st edition; The Henry Bill Publishing Company; Norwich, CT. Complete set in two volumes. The set features 13 steel portraits (including Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Charles Sumner, Stephen A. Douglas, James Garfield and many others) and a fold out map "showing the territorial growth of the United States." Each volume has a thorough list of Contents at the front and an Appendix at the back; there is an Index of Names at the back of volume II. The volumes have marbled end papers, marbled page edges on all sides, and gilt lettering on the front covers and spines.
Condition:
Small cloth tears at the top and bottom edges of the spine; sharp cover corners. Both volumes are tightly bound with no cracks and no loose pages. Bright gilt lettering on the covers and spines. The top of the back cover of vol I has some light finger smudging. Nice interior - the pages are age-toned, but clean with no notable issues found. The fold-out map at the back of vol I is firmly attached and clean. Overall the set is in Very Good+ condition.
