Part of the Penguin True Crime series. 219 pages. First published in 1973. The 1911 Sidney Street siege was the culmination of events that began with the December 1910 attempted jewellery robbery at Houndsditch by a gang of Latvian immigrants. This resulted in the murder of three policemen, the wounding of two others, and the death of George Gardstein, the leader of the Latvian gang.
