Price of $3.50 on the front flap of the dust jacket. Illustrated by a frontispiece photograph of a manuscript page from Tabeau's original narrative and a fold-out chart of Tabeau's geneaology. Translated from the French by Rose Abel Wright. Includes the order sheet with reviews for the book, issued by the University of Oklahoma Press. Pierre-Antoine Tabeau wrote his journal as a report for the authorities of Spanish Louisiana, from 1803 to 1805, while he lived on a cedar island in the Missouri River 1200 miles north of what is now St. Louis. Tabeau records his business dealings (related to the fur trade) with Native Americans who lived on the Upper Missouri, and his life on the frontier. A beautiful copy. A Near Fine book in a like dust jacket which shows minor edge wear.

Dr. Rink was a prolific author and scholar of the Pacific Northwest and the Arctic. In this publication, Rink discusses the cultural practices of a few different Inuit peoples, including their languages, laws, social hierarchies, religious traditions, livelihoods, arts, music, and medical knowledge. Rink's book includes 150 tales and legends from this region's peoples. Difficult to find in nice condition, this is an exceptional copy. A few flecks of wear to the extremities; a Sotheran's booksellers ticket on the verso of the front flyleaf.
