[5], vi-xii, [3], 2-472 pp. Brown cloth with gold lettering and black rules on the front board, gold lettering on the spine. Brown coated endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with a folding frontispiece and with five plates, one of which folds out, and a full-page illustration. Arctic Bibliography 14629. Wickersham 2672. Dr. Rink was a prolific author and scholar of the Pacific Northwest and the Arctic. In this publication, Rink discusses the cultural practices of a few different Inuit peoples, including their languages, laws, social hierarchies, religious traditions, livelihoods, arts, music, and medical knowledge. Rink's book includes 150 tales and legends from this region's peoples. Difficult to find in nice condition, this is an exceptional copy. A few flecks of wear to the extremities; a Sotheran's booksellers ticket on the verso of the front flyleaf.
