He joined in 1937, flew during the war till 1943 in Halifaxes, & Whitleys with Bomber Command, and in Sunderlands with Coastal Command. In 1943 he went to Canada for pilot training and was commissioned in 1945. He remained in the RAF to 1966, flying both piston & jet engine a./c.
