Hollywood, Calif: League of Voters for Equal Rights, 1978. Flier. Fine. 8-1/2 x 11 inches (21.5 x 28 cm.) Folded bifolio, [4] pages. Fine, bright, without flaw. The League of Voters for Equal Rights (LOVER) was a group dedicated to registerng the gay and lesbian community in an effort to combat Proposition 6, aka the Brigg's Initiative. This (presumably) short-lived newsletter (the initiative was defeated in November of 1978). Not found in OCLC.

nd. Boards. Fair. 7 x 9 3/4 inches (18 x 24.5 cm), red boards with damp stain on front and back. Hand stitched, front hinge is weak, label that went around spine is still on front and back but missing part from spine. Covers are warped. Manuscript book written in French. Title is not on book but is written on a slip of paper laid inside the front cover. 76 hand written and hand ruled pages including fold-out entitled: "Le Nombre des 36 questions." Sections numbered 1--36 have the names of planets, stars, and constellations. Each section has 18 answers. Some answers seem to be directed to children, such as: "Vous ete un bon enfant, vous aimes á etre long tems á Sable, long tems au lit, et tres peu á L'Eglise." ("You are a good child, you like to be a long time in Sand, a long time in bed, and very little in the Church.") Others seem directed at adults and some are sad fortunes. Undated, circa 18th or 19th century.

The Ladder was the first nationally distributed lesbian publication in the United States, issued monthly from 1956 to 1970, and once every other month in 1971 and 1972. It was the primary publication and method of communication for the Daughters of Bilitis, the first lesbian organization in the US, and importantly contained an ongoing running bibliography of lesbian literature in every issue. In this issue, one of the first edited by Barbara Gittings, a report on the East Coast Homophile Organizations Convention of 1963, at which Dr. Albert Ellis had announced that "the exclusive homosexual" was a psychopath, setting off a firestorm in the LGBTQ community.

Outermost jacket has blue and red lettering on spine. Inner dust jacket has some green lettering on spine and large chip at top of spine obscuring most of the word "the". Both jacket have chips and small tears. This book is scarce in dust jacket. 103 pp.

This does not appear to be a signature. (10) items are in color, and some are textured with gilt both gold and silver. The two smallest are 6 x 3 (14.5 x 7.5 cm) and 4 x 5.5 (10 x 14 cm). The largest is 10 x 8.5 (25.5 x 22 cm). In addition, there are (3) black and white illustrations, 5 x 3 (13 x 7.5 cm) that are cut from magazines.
