Undated but circa 1920. 128pp, coloured and illustrated title page, with colour plate frontispiece and two further mounted, tipped in colour illustrations and occasional page decorations. Bound in full tan limp leather, with yapped edges. Top edge gilded. Marbled endpapers. 16mo. Leather is a little worn, and a tad sunned over spine, and gently rounded at proud corners. Previous owner's gift inscription, dated 1924, on front free endpaper, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. A lovely, small vintage volume, pleasingly designed and tactile.

Blue boards with black lettering and illustration, chipped, worn, rounded, marked, cracked over spine. Internally some neatish crayon writing, reproducing titles and chapter headings etc. Frontispiece detached, creased and laid in. Frontispiece and six further gravure full page colour illustrations and further line drawings and decorations in text, all by Mabel Lucie Attwell. A well worn copy but good to fill a gap in Peter Pan collection or to admire Attwell's illustrations.

Hamilton first met Edith Hood in 1914 when he stayed in rooms above the post office in the Kent village of Hawkinge - Edith was a play friend of the post mistress's daughter but she served as his housekeeper and close confident from the early 1930s until Hamilton's death in 1961. Hood continued to live in Hamilton's cottage, Rose Lawn, in Kingsgate in Kent, for many years after his death until she moved into a nursing home in Broadstairs in 1980. Green cloth boards (a couple of mild marks and cloth rounded at spine tips) in period pictorial dust jacket (very slight rubbing at extremities, small closed nick at base).
