Translated from the Danish by R.P. Keigwin. A well illustrated vintage edition of Andersen's fairy tales, published circa 1940s to 1950s. This copy with two stamps from the Hans Christian Andersen House in Odense on the front endpaper, indicating that it was likely sold there. A very good copy with sunning to sp[ine, bit of wear to corners and edges, area of scuffing to rear cover along spine, slight spine lean, bit of damp staining to title page, slight toning to pages.

London: The Bodley Head, 1966. 9 x 5.5", hardcover with dust jacket, 189 pp, with illustrations by Charles Mozley. This edition first published in 1960. A very good copy with owner inscriptions and bookplate to front endpaper, mild toning to pages and dust jacket.

New York: David McKay, 1932. First US printing of the Rackham illustrated version. Quarto, original red cloth stamped in gilt on front cover and spine, peach pictorial endpapers, top edge gilt. Illustrated by Rackham with 12 full-page color plates and black-and-white illustrations throughout, many full page. Cloth with soiling and discoloration along edges, pages lightly toned, pictorial dust jacket with heavy chipping to rear panel including several inch diagonal one to lower edge, tape across closed tear of rear panel, several inch chips to ends of spine as well as closed tears along edge, several inch chip to lower bottom edge of front panel, light chipping across top front edge, a touch of soiling to panels.

An attractive vintage copy of this beloved collection of fairy tales. Includes favorite stories such as Ugly Duckling, The Snow Queen, The Little Mermaid and more. Hinges weak but not cracked, pages toned with occasional spotting, ink stamp to front free endpaper, cloth with foxing, corners and ends of spine rubbed and bumped with loss to cloth, top end of spine with some closed tears and fraying, spine cloth toned, mild soiling and staining to boards, still a nice vintage copy.

Boston: Little, Brown & Co., 1863. 8vo, 480,, original green cloth with gilt spine title. Fourth edition, the first not published privately. An attractive, bright copy with minor toning and foxing to pages, bit of soiling to endpapers, minor wear to covers.

London: J.M. Dent & Sons, 1929. Early printing. Small 8vo, purple cloth, 287, [3] pp, yellow printed dust jacket. This copy belonged to longtime journalist and associated press correspondent John Koenig Jr, while he was serving in the Air Force in England during WWII (inscribed by him in 1943). Together with related ephemera laid in by Koenig--photocopied articles, a 1940s transcript of an article on London shrines, a 1924 promotional card for Ye Olde Tiget Tavern, and most interestingly, a mimeographed poem by Margaret Marshall, Sergeant in the Auxiliary Territorial Services, the women's branch of the British military during WWII. The poem discusses her internal pain and anxiety and is accompanied by a note--"Margaret is one of Suzannes friends, a lovely girl, she has found the Army life hard and difficult, she wrote this poem when she was very ill." With numerous illustrations, many pull page, printed on a yellow background. Minor creasing, a hint of soiling to covers. Very good plus.

New York: The Authors Publishing Company, 1880. First edition. 8vo, 310pp, original brown with with black and gilt decoration/lettering. Rare narrative of the author's experiences being a Union soldier and prisoner of war of the Confederacy. This author was a Captain with the Ninth New Jersey Veteran Volunteers. A bright copy with a bit of toning to pages, unobtrusive restoration along hinges and joints, restored chip to cloth at upper spine.

Reprints the diaries of two girls from Elmore, Lamoille County, Vermont. This copy is signed by the editor, Mariam Parr. Laid in is an additional booklet of poetry by the editor. A nice copy with mild toning.

A cookbook of Arabic recipes contributed by members of a Syrian Orthodox Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Second edition, with recipes improved and refined, first published in 1959. Includes recipes for Arabic and Syrian staples like Eggplant Appetizer (Baba Ganuje), Chick Peas Appetizer (Hummos-be-Tahini), Syrian Bread (Khubz), Bourghol Salad (Tabooli), Stuffed Grape Leaves (Muhshe Urreesh), Shish-Ka-Bob, Syrian Cheese Cubes (Jibin), Blintzes (Ektoyif), Baclawa, Turkish Coffee (Kuhwee Turkee), and more. The inclusion of Arabic and Syrian names in parentheses only, as well as an explanatory paragraph on Kibbee, and a glossary of Arabic spices, suggest that the book was intended, at least partially, for a Western audience.
