Description:
Signed on front endpaper: Henry W. Clune (see picture)Clean text. Price clipped. Protected by Brodart (old) dust jacket cover. Book in poor condition. Binding loose in areas. Dust jacket in poor condition. Fading on spine. Many chips, tears and tape remnants while jacket is largely in tack. Reading copy. Henry W. Clune (February 8, 1890 – October 9, 1995 was an American writer. A well-known journalist for the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper in Rochester, New York, his column "Seen and Heard" was published in that paper for 55 years. He also penned 14 books; including six novels.
"The Big Fella" is considered one of the finer novels written about American politics. Unfortunately for Clune the book's publishing was delayed by three months due to an eye condition by his editor. During those three months Edwin O'Connor's Last Hurrah appeared. The Last Hurrah was an award winner and best seller, as well as later a popular movie starring Spencer Tracy.

Basically this is a fictionalized account of the life or George Eastman (Alan Wesley), founder of Kodak (Wesley Works) in Rochester (Minerva), NY.
