Norman: University of Oklahoma Press [1956], 1956. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo. [8], ix-xvi, [2], 3-299, [5] pp. Quarter pink cloth over three-quarter brown cloth with a decoration in black on the front board and spine, black lettering on the spine; orange topstain. Title page printed in yellow and black, mimicking parts of the jacket's front panel. Price of $4.50 on the front flap of the dust jacket. Illustrated with eight plates of black and white photographs. Gray, Kiowa, Indian Dancers (dated 1956), a small corner crease to a few leaves; jacket has just a touch of edge wear.

Description:
Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1975. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo. [6], vii-xi, [2], 2-323, [2] pp. Grey cloth with gold lettering on the spine. Price of £6.50 on the front flap of the dust jacket. SEP "Epistemology". Unger advocates for radical skepticism, the view that no one can truly know anything. A person can only be said to know something if they are certain of something. They can be certain of fact x only if there is no fact y about which they can be more certain. Since a person cannot be said to know anything, nothing cane be true or false. A person cannot have an emotional attachment to anything. Unger argues that philosophy of language and mind will have to radically be revised in light of his conclusion. A Near Fine book with minor foxing to the top textblock and a tiny bump to the corner of the front board; dust jacket is Near Fine with a spot or two of edge wear.

Description:
New York: Oxford University Press, 1996. First edition. Hardcover. Very near Fine/Fine. 8vo. [7], viii-xii, [2], 3-187, [1] pp. Bound in black cloth with silver lettering on the spine. One gathering (four leaves) bound upside down. Following in the footsteps of Peter Singer's landmark essay "Famine, Affluence, and Morality", Unger examines a number of difficult moral thought-experiments and typical reactions to them. He argues that our moral intuitions are often based on confusion brought about by psychological tendencies rather than our true moral commitments. Ultimately, Unger develops an argument in favor of the claim that it is morally wrong to fail to lessen the suffering of people who are distant from us. A very attractive copy of Unger's influential book.
