Three-quarters-length sepiatone portrait of Parepa-Rosa in a Victorian dress, low neckline, embroidered collar and cuffs, looking slightly to her right. Printed below the image is "Gurney & Son, Fifth Ave, N.Y." On the verso are the Gurney crest and name, Fifth Avenue, Cor. 16th St. N.Y. Written in pencil is Parepa-Rosa [not an authentic signature]. Parepa-Rosa (1836-1874), a British-born soprano, established with her husband their own opera company, toured the US for several years with Euphrosyne singing the lead roles, &c. She died at age 38.

Bound in pictorial white wrappers, the cover showing folks in an early automobile speeding down a paved country road. 6.75" x 4.75" Photographs show men at work, paving rural roads with concrete blocks and the resultant "dustless roadways." [WorldCat finds only the Smithsonian holding.].

Half-length sepiatone portrait of Peabody in double-breasted coat, white shirt with stiff collar and silk bow tie, his right hand tucked inside his lapel, looking at the camera. Printed below the image is "Gurney & Son, Fifth Ave, N.Y," over which is signed in blue ink, "Geo. Peabody" [not sold as an authentic signature]. On the verso are the Gurney crest and name, Fifth Avenue, Cor. 16th St. N.Y. Written in pencil is Jay Gould [not an authentic signature]. Peabody (1795-1869) is recognized as "the father of modern philanthropy." From humble beginnings in Massachusetts, he went on to become a shrewd banker and financier, and ultimately a partner in what would become J.P. Morgan & Co.

French, and John H. Chatham. Included are many examples of music built on local lore as well as cowboy songs, canal-boat songs, "The Slave's Lament," songs of the Civil War era, etc. Small corner chips from back cover. 7.5" x 5.75" Most of the plates are full-length photo-portraits of players and singers, including a number of Native Americans.

Stauffer orders that upon his death, "...my body be decently interred in a Christianlike manner"; and that his debts and funeral expenses be paid at once; that money he loaned out be collected to pay for a farm that he bought from the estate of John L. Brandt; that his interests in a woodlot in West Hempfield be sold; that his estate remain intact "...as a whole, to be managed and controlled by my dear wife Ella H. Stauffer..."; that each of his sons be given "...a buggy, sleigh, horse, harness and blankets...," and two hundred dollars; &c. Dated 13 December 1897. Signed by Stauffer. Witnessed by Abram Young and S.R. Zug.

Abraham Snyder sells 14 acres to Benjamin German, "a certain small tract of land in said Rapho Twp. adjoining lands of John Geil, Isaac Werner, and others...." The total price is $2,192 and payment terms are detailed below. Dated 15 November 1873. Signed by Benj. German, witnessed by S.R. Zug [J.P.].

Two are from Krause, Ingham & Hester ("Packers of the Home Delight Coffee"), each with an engraving of their premises, delivery wagons out front. All are 8.5" wide.
