A scarce book of poems from McGregor, who was formerly Superintendent of two Sioux reservations, Rosebud Reservation and Pine Ridge Reservation, in South Dakota. The dustjacket flap describes McGregor as well qualified to interpret the real Indian character to the white man. In his Introduction, McGregor writes, Cruel and unjust as it is, the Indians must follow the white way of life and share some of the good things and suffer from the bad. They will eventually be absorbed by the white race they have loved and hated, imitated and fought, praised and condemned. Poems include Chief Crazy Horse, The Sioux Meat Supply, Sioux in World War Two, Sioux Winter Count, White Schools, Sitting Bull, Mixed Marriages, and Indian Mother Speaks.

SIGNED by McPhee on the title page; INSCRIBED by Frank L. Boyden to Sid on ffep (whose ownership stamp appears opposite on pastedownhe graduated Deerfield in 1932, served in WWII, and worked as an advertising executive in New York before dying in 1998); and INSCRIBED to Sidney by Helen Boyden on p. 137 under a photo of her teaching at Deerfield. McPhees second book, a stirring portrait of Boyden, who was Headmaster of the prestigious Deerfield Academy in western Massachusetts from 1902-1968. Scarce signed by McPhee and by both Frank and Helen Boyden.

Edgewear, toning, and soiling, about VG. 6 typed pp. In 1936, at the age of 27, Ruth Ellen Church came to the Chicago Tribune as Cooking Editor and used the pseudonym Mary Meade to write columns, recipes, and cookbooks.; the Chicago Tribune reported that under her guidance, the Tribune was one of the first newspapers to establish a test kitchen. In 1962, Church became the first American to write a regular wine column. She collected dozens of awards from journalism and food service organizations before she retired in 1974. Church was murdered in her Chicago home in 1991, at the age of 81. Uncommon; this title does not appear separately in OCLC.
