A library copy, with the Montreal West Circulating Library sheet affixed to the front end paper. Some numbers written in pencil on the rear end papers, rubbing to edges, small marginal stains, a very good copy in a rather nice copy of the dust jacket. The jacket has light chipping at the spine ends, a short tear along the front hinge, but is very good otherwise. An uncommon book, rarely seen in the dust jacket. Ianthe Jerrold was the granddaughter of Douglas Jerrold, Victorian playwright.

London: Collins, [1928].. Original blue limp calf designed in gilt. 56 pages. Four colour plates and decorative borders by Charles Robinson. This copy in the original glassine, and in the original publisher's box with a colour pictorial label on the top. There is a perforation (from a pin or nail) through the back cover and final six leaves (not the illustration), but it is hardly noticeable. The frontispiece plate has a tiny folded corner at the bottom. The glassine is a little worn at the edges, with old creases. A remarkably preserved copy, in the rarely-seen box.

Blue manila backing, publisher's printed label on the outside at lower left. Old stains and a few tears at the lower left, edge a bit ragged at lower left, some chipping to label; in general condition is clean and very good. Hand-numbered on the label: "77". Small ink rubber stamp in German at the title. Some locations highlighted in pen. This chart was issued with a book of sailing instructions (not present here). A large chart, 201cm x 10cm, rolled. The Finnish Maritime Museum describes two copies, dated 1875 and 1889. The Museu Marítim de Barcelona records a copy dated 1880.
