This title is part of a series of relatively cheap and affordable books covering natural history that people might see on a day out/on holiday. Other titles in the series include Common Objects of the Sea Shore, and Common Objects of the Microscope. The binding has been rebacked preserving the original spine. New endpapers have been added. The binding is clean, tight and sound. There are a few lightly faded areas on the front board and the corners are turned. The top back corner is bumped. Contents are complete with frontispiece and 11 further tissue-guarded plates. 6 page publisher's catalogue at the rear. Contents are generally clean with the odd spot or mark. There is a small stain in the top gutter which affects preliminaries through to p 1 of text.

London : Herbert Jenkins Limited, 1937 A near fine copy of the 1st edition, first printing, in fair dust wrapper. The wrapper is priced at 7/6 and the list of titles at the front wrap has the Jeeves Omnibus priced at 7/6. The book is in a bright red binding with black lettering. The spine is very slightly darker and with a slight cock to the front. Contents are very clean with 8 pages of adverts at the rear including a full page advert for Laughing Gas. Free endpapers have light brown toning. The wrap is darkened and has loss at the folds and the top and bottom of the spine. There is a repaired tear across the spine and some repair to the top of the spine. There is some darkening and staining at the bottom edge which is more noticeable on the inside of the jacket. The jacket is in a removable protective wrap.

London: Herbert Jenkins Ltd A very good copy of the 5th printing, undated but circa 1940, in very good wrapper which appears contemporary. The book is in an orange cloth binding with black titles. The binding is sound and clean with a slightly darker area on the front board. The spine ends are slightly pulled and slightly faded. Board edges slightly faded. Internally the endpapers are browned but the contents are very clean. There is spotting at the top page edge which is occasionally visible on pages internally. The wrap is complete. Quick Service is priced at 7/6 on the rear flap suggesting the 1940 date. The spine is faded and the price label has been torn off. There is some scuffing to folds and a little edge nibbling, mostly at the fold edges. The verso of the wrap has some toning down the spine, a few spots and a few light marks.

London: Barrie & Jenkins, 1970 Near fine copy of the 1st UK edition in near fine wrap. The blue cloth binding with gilt titles is clean and with little noticeable wear other than a bump at the top edge of the front board close to the spine. Contents bright and clean. Wrap is complete and clean with only a very slight crinkle at the edges. A lovely copy.

London : Herbert Jenkins Ltd A near fine copy of the 5th printing in a very good dust wrapper. Undated but circa 1950. The binding is in maroon cloth with black titles. There is spotting at the top page edge. The wrap is complete and clean, and priced at 5/- on the spine. The spine is slightly darker than the panels and there is a small piece missing from the top edge close to the spine affecting the 'P' of P G Wodehouse. Otherwise there is light edge nibbling with slight loss to the flap fold edges and some surface scuffing down the folds. The latest title on the flap is Nothing Serious. On the verso of the wrap the spine is toned.

London: A & C Black Ltd, 1916 A good copy of the 3rd printing of Mike with black and white frontispiece and 11 further black and white plates by T M R Whitwell. In the original green cloth binding with a cricketing scenes on the front board and spine. The binding is sound and clean with some pulling and fraying at the spine ends, particularly the top. Corners with light wear. The endpapers have a pencil signature to the fep, which has a couple of light marks. Contents are generally clean with the occasional light mark (mainly in margins) or light area of spotting. Some of the plates have light marking in the margin or to the verso, and roughness to the side edge. A small side edge tear at p 3 has been repaired. London : A & C Black Ltd, 1935 A good copy of the 1st edition in good to very good contemporary wrapper. This title was originally the second part of 'Mike' and was published separately in 1935 because it stands alone and introduces the highly popular Psmith. The wrapper (which features a picture of Psmith as if he is around 30), is complete and not price-clipped. There is some nibbling at the top and bottom of the spine with slight loss and similar at the top of the front fold. There are couple of small edge tears at the bottom edge with archive tape repair. The back panel and back fold are slightly grubby. The inside of the wrap has some browning and spotting. The book is clean and sound. The spine and board edges are faded and there is a crease in the middle of the spine at the top. Corners with light wear - more on the bottom corner of the back board. The contents are very clean with light toning to paper and occasional spotting at the page edge.

The book has a red cloth binding with black titles to front board and spine. The spine is very slightly cocked to the front with light pulling to ends. There is a small indent at the side edge of the front board and the top corners are turned. There is a slightly darker area at the bottom spine end where is joins the front board. Top page edges reddened. Contents are very clean with a very small repaired edge tear at the top of p 9. One page of reviews and 7 pages of publisher's adverts at the rear. The wrap has 2/6 on the spine with an oval browned area below it suggesting that perhaps another price sticker was removed. The front flap has 33 titles. There is edge nibbling with some loss at the fold edges and some small tears. Archive tape has been used to stabilise the edges. The boards retain the blue colour with fading round the edges and some spotting - particularly on the front board. The corners are lightly turned. Internally there is a large and flamboyant signature dated August 1938 to the fep. The contents are complete and very clean with the occasional spot to the foredge and some light spotting at pp 154/155. 8 pages of adverts at the rear. The wrap has a sticker for 2/6 on the spine which is covering the original price of 7/6 (still visible if viewed from the inside under strong light). Contents slight shaken with a couple of spots to foredge and some spotting at the top page edge occasionally visible internally. A few spots at the title page. A small mark in the top margin affecting pp 44-46 and some browning in the gutter at p289. Some top page corners have been turned over at some point and now have a slight crease. The binding is bright and clean with some fading to the spine which has a little pulling to top and bottom. Internally there is a pencil signature to the fep. Contents in very good clean condition with very occasional marks. There is a note in Swedish to the rear free endpaper.

London: Herbert Jenkins Limited, 1929 A good copy in second issue wrapper priced at 2/6. The book is a stated First Printing 1929 in orange cloth with black titles. It does, however, have Summer Lightning at the top of the list of titles opposite the title page. This was also published in 1929, but slightly later that year. The cloth binding has a faded spine with pulling at the spine ends. There is some paler marking at the spine joints; a couple of paler areas on the front board and some fading at the top of the back board. Corners are turned with wear to the cloth. Internally the book is very bright and clean with light toning to paper. There is some staining on p12 ?tea? which is also visible on p 13 and some light marks on pp 167, 168 and 194. LONDON: Herbert Jenkins Limited, 1940 A near fine copy of the 11th printing of the first edition in bright orange cloth binding with a black silhouette of Jeeves chasing Harold the page boy on the front board. This book contains the immortal story of Bertie Wooster's stay at Twing and the attempts to place bets on entrants to the Vicar's Fete. This printing is circa 1940 and the book is with a slightly later wrap - probably 1949 - in fair condition. The binding is very bright and clean with slight pulling to spine ends and light wear to corners. There is some spotting at the top page edges (not visible internally) and a few spots to the foredge. Contents are very clean with some light foxing spots at the endpapers and a slight pale mark in the gutter at p 224. The paper is lightly toned. The wrap has general edge nibbles with loss at the top and bottom of the spine, and the flap folds. The orange cloth binding with black lettering is very bright and clean. There is a small black mark on the spine and slight pulling to spine ends. Contents are very clean with light toning to paper. 2 pages of adverts at the rear. The unclipped wrap has some edge nibbling with small loss at the spine ends and folds. The spine is slightly darkened and there are darker lines at the folds. It is in a removable protective wrap.

The book has a bright orange cloth binding with black titles. Contents very clean with light toning to paper. 4 pages of adverts at the rear with the most recent title being The Code of the Woosters. The wrap is in very good clean condition. The spine is lightly faded with a 5/- price. There are a couple of small edge tears at the top of the spine, slight wear at the folds and odd light edge nibble. The 9th printing is generally dated to 1935 - however this copy has 8 pages of adverts at the rear of which a couple of titles date to 1939. The wrap has Quick Service at 7/6 dating it to circa 1940 - so probably contemporary with the book. The book has a bright orange cloth binding with black titles. The spine is slightly cocked to the front with light pulling to spine ends. There is light rubbing to corners. The back board has a few very small white flecks. Contents are complete and very clean. The front free endpaper and half title page have a crease. Repaired bottom edge tear to p 279 and also to the final lea of adverts. The wrap is very clean and has a 5/- price sticker over the old 4/- price on the spine. There is fading to the spine and to panel edges with rubbing at the folds. Edges have some nibbling, edge tearing and old creasing, with small loss at the folds and some archive tape repair to stabilise.
