New York: Kinsey, 1936. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. (New York: H.C. Kinsey & Company 1936). Publisher's yellow boards with brown lettering (and necklace design) to the front board and spine. A very nearly fine copy in a near fine D/W rubbed to the spine tips. Very clean boards and back panel. The NY Times was particularly scathing as to its review of this book: "The Case of the Two Pearl Necklaces is confused in its narrative, stereotyped in its characters and disappointing in all but the bare skeleton of its plot and the bare outlines of its background". Ouch! Uncommon. Photographs/scans available upon request.

1925. (London: Wells Gardner Darton & Co - undated - [1925]). Presumed First Edition. Publisher's mid green cloth with black lettering. The book itself is a near fine copy. The D/W advertises this title on the rear cover (as being published at 2/6) and is in VG+ condition with a slightly browned (with some minor surface loss) to the spine. Interestingly the author's name is spelt Nordman on the D/W but Nordmann inside the book. Whatever the correct spelling this is uncommon in D/W. It appears to have been inexplicably trimmed along the bottom edge so appears short by 5 mm.

Foxing to the page edges otherwise a VG+ copy in like D/W with some foxing to the edges of both flaps and also to the left hand edge of the back panel. The basis for the 1962 classic film, Lonely are the Brave starring Kirk Douglas and written for the screen by Dalton Trumbo. The story of John W. "Jack" Burns, who refuses to join modern society, doesn't have much use for modern technology, identification, or registering for the draft. The UK first edition had a much smaller print run than its US counterpart and has striking artwork (by Stein) of the cowboy on his rearing horse as a menacing truck aproaches. A very nice copy indeed
