Light browning, horizontal fold line through center, a few chips and clean short tears to left-hand margin. $350. * The broadside reads (in part): "On Saturday evening, October 4th, 1879, about 9 o'clock, Emmett Rhodes was waylaid by a highwayman on the road about two miles northeast of Groton Village, Tomkins County. The robber demanded Mr. Rhodes' money, and this being refused, he fired two shots, by one of which Mr. Rhodes was seriously wounded." Signed in type by William J. Smith, Sheriff of Tomkins County.

Light browning, vertical and horizontal fold lines. A well-preserved copy. $750. * Signed in type by Perkins Gale, Sheriff. Arrested for two counts of larceny, Emerson, "about 30 years of age," "escaped from the custody of the undersigned in Concord, on Tuesday evening, June 19." This appears to be an unrecorded broadside.

Light edgewear, annotations, tipped-in captions and stamps to versos, some have minor creases, one is lacking a corner with no damage to image. $1,500. * Nine of these are formal group portraits of the Court taken in 1935, 1937, 1946, 1952, 1955, 1957, 1965, 1970 and 1976, two record the Court's annual White House visits in 1935 and 1939, the others are images of individual justices (William Brennan, Tom Clark, Felix Frankfurter, Thurgood Marshall, Lewis Powell, Stanley Reed and Earl Warren). There is also a photo of the United States Supreme Court building flying the flag at half-mast in honor of Justice Frank Murphy.

Paris- on their east voyage to Europe- 1929-1930-" in Ruby Darrow's hand to verso. $650. * This charming photo depicts Clarence Darrow and his second wife, Ruby Hamerstrom Darrow, on the deck of the S.S. Paris. The two married in 1903, just as his career was beginning to take off in Chicago. By the time of the trip, which lasted nine months, he was one of the most famous lawyers of the twentieth century.
