It has been a controversial book but one that is in nice shape for a collector. The dots have been connected (in pencil) in all of the illustrations. The book is green cloth with a clean, color illustration pasted on the front.

This hard-to-find copy is in very good condition, with no rips, tears or folded pages. The cover design, by Barbara McIver, is described as follows: "Abolitionists used statues similar to the one on the cover to indicate to fugitives that their home was a stop on the Underground Railroad."
