With the 2 original plates, here bound in between pages ii and iii and 98/99. With over 150 additional plates, many portraits, but also views, of varying sizes from very small to fold outs. Pages spotted, heavily in places. A few of the extra illustrations seem to have been removed at some point, including one which would have acted as frontispiece. In the old leather covered boards with a replacement spine, but this is all very worn and scuffed. Bookplate removed from the front pastedown. Ink and pencil numbers to the front free end paper. Inner hinges reinforced with tape. A large and heavy volume.

Contains 1 photograph and 5 engravings - no frontis, but with the plan of the pavilion. Lacks pages 15-16 and 1 illustration presumably due to binder, no evidence of ever having been present. Minor foxing, particularly to first and last pages. Embossed dark burgundy cloth, no binder's ticket. Gilt lettered to spine, Worn at head and foot of spine. Slight denting to binding as though tied up at some horizontally across middle. Photograph is that of the Guild Chapel and the vestiges of New Place. Lacks the engraving of Shakespeare's Birthplace.
