Text clean and unmarked with light foxing on rear pages. Prior owner's name in pencil on title page. Exceptional shape for this RARE, children's book of the 1900's era.

Text profusely illustrated with full color drawings. Many pages repaired with scotch tape, which has browned. Despite repairs, all leaves attachedand unmarked. Stamps on title page indicating property of Board of Education, City of New York and purple stamp indicating The Bronx. Front pastedown has prior owner as Patty MacCready in ink and purple stamp for school in The Bronx. Overall good condition considering its age and scarcity.

Illustrated with b/w drawings by the renowned children's illustrator Sarah Noble Ives. 128 pp. Text block clean, unmarked with little foxing. Prior owner information on front free endpaper. Pages 65-68 have closed end tear along hinge. Covers soiled. The preface states: "These fables have been selected, adapted and arranged from the folklore of the Negro race. Twenty of them were drawn entirely from African sources and the other fourteen from American. The striking similarity between the two groups shows their common African origin and relationship." Stafford, an African-American, contributed several scholarly papers to The Journal of Negro History and later assisted Booker T. Washington while at the Chaney Training College for Teachers (later Chaney State College, Chaney, Penn.). This rare book is an early example of including Negro characters in elementary education.

A hardcover compilation of three single-volume editions of Time for Poetry; Time for Fairy Tales, Old and New; and Time for True Tales and Almost True. Believed to be a first edition as the first two of the original single books were copyrighted in 1952 with the third copyrighted in 1953. This compilation by May Hill Arbuthnot was assembed in 1953. "A collection of poems and stories for children, to be used in the classroom, home or camp; expecially planned for college classes in children's literature; with introductions and headnotes." Illustrated throughout with original black and white drawings. Spine is lightly sunned. Very good condition for its age.

L. G. Stahl, England, 1902. Hardcover. Condition: Poor. First Edition. Cloth spine has been repaired. Corners show edge wear. Text block is unpaginated and several pages are detached or missing, including the title page. Pages are yellowed typical of age and illustrated throughout printed in black or red ink . Drawings and woodcut impressions are quite remarkable First section is the alphabet section, followed by New Rhymes for Nursery Times. Some of the drawings have been colored by an age typical former owner. Lower fore edge has worm hole burrowed through text. Despite condition, this book is a quite rare copy.

Possible ex-library edition. Danny is only a trapper's son; as much as he wants the beautiful Irish Setter Big Red, the dog is a champion and out of his reach. Then Danny is given the job of showing the show dog the way of the woods, and the two develop a wonderful relationship. Made into a Walt Disney movie.

The remainder of the book contains Fido's Frolic, Grace's Party and Little Bo-Peep. Cover artwork has gold gilt outline of the figures and publisher's name. Very rare, especially in this fine condition.

Remainder of pages present, although page 288 is partially missing. Several pages chipped, but does not affect readability. Profusely illustrated throughout with b/w line drawings. Few of this minute children's books have survived in readable condition.
