(tr) Palau 519; Sabin14; SmithAl. Going to Cuba for his health in 1828, the author wrote aseries of sixty-five letters describing his considerable travel byhorseback over the island. His observations cover what he saw and sensedin these trips up and down the island.

(tgc) - Despite the title, this is a witty novel that is credited with establishing Oliphant as a popular Victorian author. Published originally in Blackwood's Magazine in 1866, this is the first book publication which was revised by the author.
