About This Item
New York: Bantam Books, 1973. Mass Market Paperback. Very Good to Near Fine. Vintage Paperback. Bantam T7499: Pedler & Davis first created and developed "Mutant 59" as the first episode for a BBC telervision series about a government agency that worked to combat and control environmental and technological disasters. They re-used and re-worked the plot for this 1973 science fiction thriller. The story revolves around a mutant enzyme that eats plastics and grows exponentially, threatening destruction not only of London but of much of civilization if it can't be stopped. First printing, first paperback edition. About 4 1/4 x 7 inches in white pictorial wrappers with black lettering. A light reading crease on slightly age-tanned spine, a touch of soiling on text edges and and hint of age-tanning at top of page margins in text. O/w book is complete, clean and unmarked, binding tight and square. No tearing, chipping, bumped corners or other noticeable damage. A good example of 1970s speculative science fiction.
