An omnibus edition bringing together the three Cain novels that have become crime noir classics: "The Postman Always Rings Twice," "Mildred Pierce," and "Double Indemnity." All three of these novels have also been the basis for successful films and both books and films have become staples of any mystery-crime library or film collection. This copy is the book club edition, First Printing, First Edition Thus. 400 pages in black, paper-covered boards with gold lettering. Boards and text show only a touch of foxing on the top edge of the text block, o/w clean and unmarked, tight and square. Primarily white dustjacket shows very minor edge wear, light soiling and age-tanning, one tiny tear at bottom of spine, no creasing or chipping. Very decent copy of three of Cain's best.

The 77th mystery novel the prolific Gardner wrote featuring California defense attorney, Perry Mason, who's always able to solve the case and prove his client's innocence in the courtroom at the last minute. In this case, the lives of two widows, one elderly, wealthy and ill, the other, young, beautiful and not so rich, become entangled and Mason has to answer the question: will their deaths also be bound together? An early printing of the Second Edition (originally published by Wm. Morrow in 1964).
